eBroadcast introduces suite of mobile applications
This week, we broke new ground by releasing the first combined television and cinema guide application for the Australian market on iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Android operating systems.
In the first 24 hours, we’ve reached number one placing in our chosen genre and top five overall. We couldn’t be more pleased.
Within hours of the release on the iTunes, the iOS version shot to the top of the Lifestyle charts, even knocking Oprah Winfrey’s O Magazine app off the top spot.
The combined 2-in-1 app provides our Australian users with a one-stop-shop for checking local free-to-Air TV times and cinema sessions in Australia. The app also provides trailers and a unique Twitter-like tracking feature to allow users to “follow” their favourite TV show.
Throughout 2010, eBroadcast witnessed a huge amount of interest and activity in mobile application use and have worked to build these exciting new apps for our Australian consumers.
Our consumer products department believe the future in online publishing is wireless and we're directing a large part of that department’s skill set and resources to growth in that area.
With our 2-in-1 TV and Movie Guide app released simultaneously across four platforms, we have placed our faith in a new audience embracing our content that we’ve traditionally published via the web for the past 15 years.
We also expect to release a version of the application for the Windows Phone platform later in the year, as well as regular updates to our existing supported platforms.
